The tastings are where Farpointe really shines to me.  That's what made me a fan, and that's what keeps me coming back.  Now, the retail store always lets you sample wine as you wander the isles, but it's the Bistro that I like to call home.  Each weekend (Friday - Sunday), Farpointe Bistro offers two wine flights to choose from, each typically containing 5 samples of wine (2 ounce samples each) for $15.  That's quite a deal, let me tell you.  The primary reason that it's such a good deal (10 ounces of wine for $15 is not bad to begin with) is that these wines are higher quality than I've experienced at most flight tastings at the same price.  I'd actually expect other wine stores would charge $25-30 for the same quality of wines.

With the flights, you get a 5x7 piece of paper.  One side of the paper lists the 5 wines for Flight #1 and the other side lists the 5 wines for Flight #2.  The wines have a short description, then they have the prices that you would pay per bottle in the Retail store around the corner, or the per bottle price there in the Bistro, or the price per glass of wine (should you decide you love it so much you want an instant glass fill).  In addition, there is a Bonus Flight listed at the bottom that you can choose to add to your flight for an additional $15.  The Bonus Flight is always a steal, offering some even higher quality wines.  In March 2007, the Bonus Flight consisted of 2 different samplings, one of which was a Retail $142 bottle of wine.  When else do I get the opportunity to try $100+ bottles of wine for such a great price?

In addition to the small sheet of wines, you're also handed Wine Notes - several 8x10 pages of notes on all the wines being sampled, with detailed descriptions and other information to help you learn about the wines, and ultimately appreciate them to a greater degree.

Personally, I like to rate the wines and write quick notes on my 5x7 sheets and then take them home to scan in so I can remember later what I liked and didn't like.  Here are some samples:
